Thames Valley Police has been bolstered by an additional 219 officers since the Government launched its recruitment drive in September 2019.
This is the latest demonstration of government support for the police here in Buckinghamshire and across England. Other recent measures to strengthen our police and keep our streets safe include:
- Police pay will rise by 2.5% this year, providing officers with the largest pay rise in a decade.
- The Government is consulting on doubling the maximum sentence for assaults on emergency workers.
- A £1.1 billion cash boost for the policing system this year will include funding to provide 8,000 more officers with Taser.
- Expanded stop and search powers will help officers can keep themselves and the public safe.
