The work by Thames Water is part of a wider project to improve local sewage infrastructure and clean up its water systems, bringing an extra 150 jobs to its capital delivery team.
Gareth Williams, your local Conservative Candidate in Chesham & Amersham is working alongside local stakeholder groups to hold Thames Water to account on delivery of the project. Gareth said: “This investment by Thames Water recognises years of hard work and lobbying by many people to improve our precious chalk streams.”
As a Board Member of Chiltern’s Conservation Board, Gareth is right at the heart of efforts to improve our rivers and is leading the work on our local nature recovery strategy.
The funds will be split, between £3.3 million set to improving flow, and £13.1 million towards removing the phosphate load in the river Chess.
Thames Water have faced criticism in recent years and were called out by Ofwat in 2022 for being one of the worst performing water companies.
Our water companies must be held accountable for the sewage waste that’s polluting Chesham and the wider local area – and your local Conservative team are committed to keeping our water clean.
