HS2

The Government has confirmed that phase 1 of HS2 (from London to Birmingham) will be delayed by at least 5 years and won't open until 2031.  This finding has emerged as part of a Government review into the cost of the project which could see it scrapped altogether.

If HS2 goes ahead, phase 2 (from Birmingham to the North West) would not open until 2040.

The estimated total cost of the project has risen from £62 billion to £88 billion.

Our local MP, Dame Cheryl Gillan, has consistently opposed HS2.  Chesham and Amersham Conservatives will continue to campaign for it to be abolished.
