Isobel Darby has lived in the village all her life and was educated at local state schools, as were her three children. She is an accountant and, having trained in a City firm, practices locally. Isobel enjoys her work in the community and is pleased to be able to give something back to the area. Prior to joining the Cabinet last year, as member with responsibility for Health and Housing, Isobel served on two of the three overview committees at as well as being Vice Chairman of the Licensing and Regulation Committee.
Isobel is also a Parish Councillor, a governor of two local schools and is a strong advocate for lifelong learning. She is a member of the local Neighbourhood Action Group and uses her professional skills as treasurer of the Village Appraisal Group. She has also been the co-ordinator of the Village Guide committee since its inception. Isobel has a common sense approach in resolving issues and has the ability to empathise with people of all ages and backgrounds. She believes that it is important that we support the most vulnerable members of our community who are not always able to represent themselves.
Isobel believes passionately in preserving our environment for future generations, and feels that there has to be a sensible balance between maintaining what we have whilst providing for the future in a sensitive and sympathetic manner – a philosophy which applies from issues such as recycling and energy usage to the provision of new homes. In her spare time Isobel enjoys gardening, decorating and the theatre.
